  • EY Foundation is a UK charity committed to removing barriers to employment for young people from low-income backgrounds.
  • The charity works directly with young people to give confidence boosting training, access to quality work experience, 1 to 1 mentoring and a network that believe in their potential.  The EY Foundation shows young people a world full of opportunity that is in their reach and gives them the skills to get there.
What is the group size

Likely to be around 15-20 people. It will be a great opportunity to take on a challenge with like-minded fundraisers!

What if I don’t make the fundraising target?

As you are covering the cost of the adventure there will no penalty for not meeting the fundraising target. Your group are ambitious about the impact they want to have on young people’s lives so we hope that you will raise as much as you can to support the group target.

How hard is the hike?

The hike is classified as medium – this is mainly due to the length of walking each day and the varying terrain.

  • Walking 2-4 hours per day, there will be regular breaks and your trek leader will keep an eye on how the group are doing
  • English weather as you know can vary, so come prepared! Average temperatures in June are 16 °C
  • We will trek on varied terrain and trails which are mostly footpaths, crags and some steep hilly sections. Good quality walking boots are recommended
  • You will need a large rucksack for your main piece of luggage which can be transported by vehicle between our accommodation each day, for an additional cost. Please email the fundraisng@eyfoundation.ey.com inbox to find out more on this
  • You will also need a small backpack to carry any essentials with you during the day i.e. sunscreen, tissues, camera, snacks, water etc.
How fit do I need to be and how fit are the other people going?

To make the most of the experience you will want to have a good level of fitness. But don’t worry there is plenty of time to train over the next 10 months!

Lost Earth hike leads will be brilliant motivators as they have guided several treks previously!

Where will we be sleeping?

Hostels or equivalent dormitories will be booked as accommodation for participants. Details will be sent across in due course by Lost Earth once you have booked your place on the hike.

Will there be medical assistance on the trip?

Lost Earth Adventure first aid qualified mountain leaders will be responsible for leading the orientation of the group and ensuring maximum safety in all weather conditions. They have run many hikes like this and have suitable risk assessments and emergency plans in place.

How much does it cost?

The coast to take part is £499 per person. The fundraising goal is £350 per person, however there is not a penalty for not achieving this fundraising target as you have covered the full cost of the trek.

Are there any other costs?

Most costs are covered in the price. In addition, these costs are extra…

  • Lunch on Day 1
  • Train fare on Day 1 and Day 3
  • You will need to buy / hire your own kit if you don't have it e.g., walking boots, appropriate clothing. A full kit list will be supplied upon sign up.
  • Personal spending money
